Benefit Against the Threat
Attacks against lightly armored vehicles continue to be a source of
injury and death to our Soldiers. They must rely on equipment
carried on the vehicles and individuals to provide care and conduct
evacuation. The current vehicle first aid kit cannot meet the minimum
requirements for life saving. A need exists for a WALK that can be
carried on every vehicle traveling in a convoy or on a combat patrol
within the current tactical theaters.
Product Description
The WALK will be stowed onboard vehicles to be used by the first
responder. The WALK will not replace the
Improved First Aid Kit (IFAK)
or the Combat Life Saver Bag, but will be complimentary to both and will
contain a foldable litter and provide the tools to treat and overcome
the three most common causes of preventable combat deaths on the
battlefield (hemorrhaging, tension pneumothorax, and inadequate airway).
Fielding and Ordering Information
The WALK Basis of Issue is recommended as 1 per vehicle. AMEDD does not
have central funding allocated against the WALK. The WALK is AAC
“L” (local purchase) and units are able to purchase additional WALKs via
standard Class VIII methods.

The exact contents of the Warrior Aid and Litter
Kit (WALK) will vary depending on the date of assembly of the kit
and the source of supply. The items in this table have been included
in WALK, but a single kit will not contain all of these items since
some items are alternatives for or supersede others.
